Yi Hui is currently Senior Manager in the Student Leadership cluster, SMU Office of Student Life. She worked previously at Raffles Institution as an Experiential Learning Specialist with the Raffles Institute for Experiential Learning.
Yi Hui was also the co-founder and co-leader of the Singapore Women’s Everest Team – the first all-women team from Singapore to climb Mount Everest (8,850m) in 2009. Her mountaineering experience include scaling 5,000m – 8,000m peaks in countries such as China, Nepal, USA and Iran. In 2011, she also spent 52 days walking across 1,600km of the Gobi desert in Mongolia, assisted by wayward, bile-spitting Bactrian camels.
As part of the Singapore Women’s Everest Team, she was inducted into the Singapore Council of Women’s Organisation (SCWO)’s Hall of Fame in 2014, awarded the National University of Singapore Outstanding Young Alumni award and the Her World Young Woman Achiever award in 2009.
Yi Hui is passionate about education and inspiring the next generation. She has given talks about her adventures in organisations and schools.
Yi Hui holds an honours degree in Sociology from the National University of Singapore.
